According to Cox Automotive's Q1 2025 report, Tesla continues to dominate the U.S. EV market with 128,100 units sold, despite an 8.6% decrease year-over-year. Ford follows with 22,550 sales, reflecting an 11.5% increase. GM's Chevrolet brand exhibited phenomenal growth at 114.2%, largely driven by the Equinox EV. Overall, EV sales surged by 11.4% to approximately 296,227 vehicles, representing 7.5% of the market. Analysts warn that future growth may encounter challenges despite this positive trend.
The year certainly started strong, but the road ahead will be anything but smooth," said Valdez Streaty, Cox Automotive analyst.

The report estimated 296,227 EVs sold overall, marking an 11.4 percent increase year over year, bringing new-vehicle EV sales to around 7.5 percent of the market.
