YouTuber MKBHD says Tesla 'stopped talking to me' ahead of his new Model Y Performance review
""Tesla stopped talking to me," Brownlee said in a recent TikTok, filmed as he picked up the SUV from New Jersey EV dealer George Saliba. "It's not cause I gave them a negative review.""
"In 2022, he called the Model S Plaid the "best overall car of the last decade," after a review."
"Brownlee said Tesla's reveal was "straight up not delivering" on its promises."
""Tesla has been sitting with my 50 grand for eight years and hasn't done anything with it, obviously," he said on his "Waveform Podcast.""
Marques Brownlee no longer communicates with Tesla and obtained a Model Y Performance from a New Jersey dealership for a January review. Tesla previously provided vehicles for his reviews, and Brownlee praised the Model S Plaid as the "best overall car of the last decade." Brownlee criticized the Cybertruck delivery for failing to meet earlier promises of a 500-mile range and sub-$40,000 starting price, noting the launch delivered just over 300 miles and a roughly $70,000 sticker. Brownlee sold the Cybertruck after eight months and replaced it with a Rivian R1T. Brownlee canceled a $50,000 Roadster deposit after eight years without progress. Tesla did not respond to requests for comment.
