Zoox, the robotaxi company under Amazon, has announced a voluntary software recall due to a recent collision incident involving its driverless vehicle in Las Vegas. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed no injuries occurred from the crash. Following the incident, Zoox paused operations for a comprehensive review, with the company later implementing a software update across its fleet. As a result, all vehicles, including its robotaxi and test fleet, are now operating with the updated system. Zoox had previously faced scrutiny during investigations concerning automated driving issues in other vehicles.
"After analysis and rigorous testing, Zoox identified the root cause. We issued a software update that was implemented across all Zoox vehicles."
"The crash did not cause any injuries, but prompted a pause in the driverless vehicle operations for a thorough review by Zoox."
