Welcome to the Farm, the celebrity-backed country bar in Streeterville, has closed just eight months after its grand opening. Despite backing from notable figures like NBA star Jimmy Butler and NFL player Roquan Smith, the bar could not sustain interest. It combined a music venue atmosphere with a barbecue restaurant, but its culinary offerings, particularly the Drinking Pig BBQ menu, did not resonate with locals. Though the venue aimed to capitalize on Chicago's summer tourist influx, it never fully succeeded, leaving the space empty in search of new ownership.
The culinary component was called Drinking Pig BBQ, created by Miami chef Raheem Sealey, but the smoked meats didn't translate well in Chicago.
The venue, once Fremont, aimed to capture the previous nightlife charm, failing ultimately to harness the summer tourism influx.
