Coach Jared Bednar of the Colorado Avalanche sustained facial fractures and a corneal abrasion after being hit by a puck during a game. He will not join the team on their road trip to western Canada but is expected to recover without surgery. Assistants Nolan Pratt and Dave Hakstol will coach the team in his absence. Bednar was alert after the incident and taken to the hospital for evaluation. The Avalanche have already clinched the top seed for the postseason.
