Garcia's, An Ode to the Grateful Dead Founder, Gets an Opening Date in Chicago
Briefly

Peter Shapiro, a concert promoter and Northwestern University alumnus, celebrates the opening of Garcia's, a music venue dedicated to the Grateful Dead. Set to open on March 21, 2020, Garcia's encompasses a restaurant, bar, and performance space, in collaboration with the Garcia family estate. Shapiro previously attempted to establish a Brooklyn Bowl in Chicago but pivoted to create Garcia's after overcoming challenges. The venue will feature influences from Jerry Garcia’s life, including culinary elements that honor his favorite foods and connections to Dead fans from San Francisco and Spain.
I love Chicago. I wanted to do the Dead 50 thing here, because I knew how people would respond.
Jerry and the Dead is bigger than ever. And people live that life, you know? So I think people will come, and we're not done yet.
