The Pokémon Fossil Museum will be making its international debut at Chicago's Field Museum in 2026, showcasing both man-made Pokémon fossils and real-world ancient life forms. Fans will have the chance to compare iconic dinosaurs, such as SUE the T. Rex, with Pokémon counterparts like Tyrantrum. The exhibition aims to inspire attendees, especially aspiring paleontologists, by providing insights into the fossilization process in both universes. It is a collaboration between Japan's National Museum of Nature and Science and The Pokémon Company, having traveled through various museums in Japan.
"Aligned with the Field Museum's mission to connect us to the natural world, the Pokémon Fossil Museum will inspire visitors to make new discoveries about some of their favorite Pokémon while offering a pathway to science," said Jaap Hoogstraten, head of exhibitions at the Field Museum.
The exhibition features Pokémon 'Professors,' the ever-adorable Excavator Pikachu complete with a cowboy hat, and Field scientists exploring fossils from both worlds.
