As White Sox camp gets rolling, a 'more confident' Chris Getz is convinced he made right hire in Will Venable
Briefly

Chris Getz, the White Sox general manager, is optimistic about his decision to hire Will Venable as manager. With a strong background in coaching and a clear-headed approach, Venable has drawn positive assessments for his creativity and communication skills. His past playing experience and roles under renowned managers have equipped him well for this position. Though the White Sox faced a tough 2024 season, Venable's fit with the team is reinforced by strong interpersonal skills and respect in the clubhouse, including support from former teammate Joey Gallo.
He thinks ahead. He's collaborative. He's creative. Some of the conversations we've had about how to deploy lineups, defensive versatility... he certainly welcomed.
Will, and it's not a surprise to me, he has tremendous communication skills with players. You see how attentive they are, and that bodes well for managing a staff.
When I played with him, I thought, 'He's going to manage one day.' There are guys you're around in the clubhouse that have manager-type vibes.
He could've waited and landed a job with a more successful organization, but the Sox felt right to him... he feels right for the Sox.
