White Sox catcher Korey Lee suffered a minor hand injury after colliding with a bat during a game but is expected to return this weekend with negative X-ray results. Manager Will Venable confirmed that Lee feels good. Meanwhile, the Sox made roster cuts, including reassigning prospects Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith. Oscar Colas sprained his wrist and is day to day, while shortstop Colson Montgomery is expected to return Sunday. Starting pitcher Jonathan Cannon struggled in his outing, reflecting on the need for better execution before the season starts.
"Yeah, trying to karate chop a baseball bat is probably not the best thing in the world," Lee said. "This stuff happens. I'm surprised it didn't happen more."
"Saturday he'll be back and he's fine, feels good," Venable said. "All the reports came back positive."
"Today just comes down to execution," Cannon said. "Just silly little mistakes. Obviously, I hope to get it all out now before the season starts."
Catcher Adam Hackenberg hit his second home run of the Cactus League season, a two-run shot in the ninth off left-hander Enny Romero.
