The Chicago White Sox have placed right-hander Mike Clevinger on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation, with Jake Woodford taking his spot in the rotation.
Clevinger, with a 6.75 ERA in four starts this season, had a cortisone injection in his elbow but the manager believes it won't be a long-term issue.
Woodford, brought up from Triple-A Charlotte, had a 5.26 ERA in 10 starts this season but showed improvement with a 2.40 ERA in five May starts.
The White Sox also designated left-hander Sammy Peralta for assignment, who was claimed off waivers from Seattle recently.
