White Sox reassign top 2 prospects to minor-league camp, team announces Thursday
Briefly

The Chicago White Sox recently reassigned top prospects Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith to minor-league camp, continuing their roster adjustments prior to spring training. Schultz, a first-round pick from Naperville, is ranked the top prospect in the White Sox system and No. 16 overall in baseball. Smith, taken at No. 5 in the last draft, is ranked third in the White Sox system and No. 34 overall. Both pitchers are considered pivotal for the team's future amid its rebuilding effort.
Smith is also ranked as the No. 34 prospect in baseball overall by MLB.com, as well as the No. 2 left-handed pitcher behind Schultz.
Schultz, who turns 22 in August, split last season between High-A Winston-Salem of the South Atlantic League and Double-A Birmingham of the Southern League.
