Two tiny primates at London Zoo, a pygmy slow loris named Ernest and a black-capped squirrel monkey named Nuka, have completed successful dental surgeries. These operations were necessary due to prior check-ups indicating potential gum infections. The zoo's specialized veterinary team, including Dr. Rachel Perry, performed the dental procedures while ensuring thorough health checks. Following surgery, both animals are recovering with the help of anti-inflammatory medication and a close monitoring plan. London Zoo is using this opportunity to educate children about wildlife care during their Vets In Action week.
Ernest and Nuka were star patients. Both of their dental operations went really well.
A broken tooth had been lurking beneath Ernest's gum, causing swelling, and two of Nuka's teeth needed extracting.
