Tracy Letts clarified why his wife, Carrie Coon, did not reprise her role in 'Avengers: Endgame' after appearing in 'Avengers: Infinity War.' According to Letts, Coon was approached for the sequel but refused due to a lack of increased pay. Even though her character, Proxima Midnight, had no lines in 'Endgame,' Coon remains open to future opportunities within the Marvel universe, joking about the possibility of her own Avengers movie, while previously citing a scheduling conflict as another reason for her absence.
I believe [Marvel] went to her for the second one, and they asked her to be in the second one. And she said, 'Well, the first one is the most successful movie ever made. Are you going to pay me any more money?' And they said, 'No. We're not going to pay you any more money.'
She said, 'Wow, you're not going to pay me any more money, then I don't think I'm going to do it.' And they said, 'Well, you should feel yourself fortunate to be part of the Marvel Universe.' So she declined.
In a 2020 episode of PeopleTV's 'Couch Surfing,' Coon said she turned down the chance to reprise Proxima Midnight due to a scheduling conflict.
No one ever dies. It's very possible I could have my own Avengers movie next. But I wouldn't hold your breath.
