George Pickens was traded from the Steelers to the Cowboys after the 2024 season and entered 2025 as a pending free agent without an extension. Pickens prioritized on-field performance in 2025 to raise his market value. Through seven games he has 607 receiving yards and is tied for the NFL lead with six touchdown catches. CeeDee Lamb's earlier absence helped compress targets, but both top Cowboys receivers are now active. Pickens is open to remaining in Dallas beyond 2025 and has enjoyed the locker-room chemistry. The Steelers moved on partly due to concerns about attitude and professionalism, limiting his trade market despite upside. Pickens already has one 1,000-yard season and is on pace for another.
