Morinaga Shibaura Building / Takenaka Corporation
Briefly

The new office for a confectionery and food manufacturing company celebrates sustainability and wellness through its forest-inspired architecture named 'KAKUHAN-no-Mori'. The design aims for coexistence by integrating diverse people and nature, akin to mixing ingredients in confectionery. Attention to local ecology was paramount, incorporating plants supporting migratory birds and using wood sourced by the client’s team. Interiors mimic a forest ecosystem, encouraging interaction with the community and making the workspace feel natural and organic. This innovative design promotes a spirit of environmental stewardship and future forestry.
Our ideal place was one where diverse nature and people inside and outside the company could mutually influence each other and expand their world, like mixing ingredients to make sweets.
We designed the landscape as a forest... a symbol of coexistence and inclusion, inspired by the ecology of migratory birds and the founder's birthplace.
