OMA/Shohei Shigematsu Designs Louis Vuitton's "Visionary Journeys" First Museum Presentation in Osaka
Briefly

Louis Vuitton: Visionary Journeys is now open at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka until September 17, 2025. Designed by OMA’s New York office led by Shohei Shigematsu, this exhibition covers 2,200 square meters and features eleven thematic galleries, showcasing the brand's 170-year creative legacy. It includes installations like Trunkscapes, which introduces the brand’s identity through historical connection and cultural exchange. The immersive experience emphasizes Louis Vuitton's evolution through innovative gallery spaces and scenographic elements.
The exhibition offers a comprehensive spatial narrative of the Maison's 170-year creative legacy, articulated through zones dedicated to history, craftsmanship, iconic design codes, and cultural exchange.
Shigematsu and his team approached the exhibition as a spatial translation of Louis Vuitton's legacy, a journey not just through objects but through ideas.
Visitors are first met by Trunkscapes, a monumental installation of eight 12.5-meter lanterns made of vertically stacked trunks, emitting a soft ambient glow.
Each gallery presents a distinct spatial experience, with scenographic elements conceived as immersive environments rather than passive displays.
