There's a new West Berkeley art gallery in a former fishing supply shop
Briefly

The new Berkeley Bait and Tackle Art Gallery, managed by Debera McKee, opened in December 2022 in the former Berkeley Bait and Tackle store. The gallery pays homage to its predecessor by showcasing more than a dozen local artists from the neighborhood, offering a platform for marginalized voices through various art forms. McKee, an artist herself, emphasizes inclusivity and community representation, featuring works from artists facing challenges, such as homelessness, and dedicating space for children's art to engage younger generations.
"We are trying to represent people in the neighborhood, said McKee, who is an artist herself. People that maybe are marginalized, people that have never shown their artwork."
"I want to create a space where fresh people come through the gallery and show their artwork and their crafts."
