TJ Boulting gallery in central London has officially closed after 13 years, as announced by co-founder Hannah Watson on Valentine's Day. She expressed that the decision was made after careful consideration, having accomplished her goals for the gallery, including showcasing remarkable artists and engaging in art fairs. The downturn in the art market influenced the closure, with Watson noting that many galleries are struggling. Despite the closure, the gallery's associated publishing house, Trolley Books, will continue independent operations, preserving its legacy in lens-based work.

"The decision has been brewing for a while and I've done everything I wanted to do with the gallery: built an exciting programme, worked with amazing artists..."

"I don't know many galleries that are having an easy time right now. I managed to keep going without compromising, but looking ahead to the next five to ten years you have to consider what is feasible."
