'Skibidi,' 'Delulu' Added to Cambridge Dictionary Online | Entrepreneur
Briefly

During the past year, the Cambridge Dictionary has added 6,000 new words, prominently featuring terms rooted in TikTok and Internet culture. New entries for 2025 include 'skibidi', which can imply 'cool' or serve as a joke, 'tradwife', designating a homemaker active on social media, and 'delulu', referring to believing falsehoods due to preference. Lexical program manager Colin McIntosh emphasized that words are included based on their potential longevity. The evolution of the English language influenced by digital culture is a noteworthy phenomenon.
"It's not every day you get to see words like skibidi and delulu make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary," said Colin McIntosh.
"We only add words where we think they'll have staying power. Internet culture is changing the English language, and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the Dictionary."
