Tech Mining - E-Waste Workshop at HEAD
Briefly

Benjamin Gaulon’s Tech Mining workshops, running from 2005 to 2013, highlight the creative possibilities of e-waste and defunct media. Recently held at HEAD in Geneva, the workshop instructed students on collecting and transforming obsolete hardware into art. The participants explored three possible outcomes: experimental, applied, and material repurposing of electronic waste. They delved into themes of Cyberpunk and Solarpunk, while also engaging with critical thinkers and producing collaborative art projects that merged theory with practice, ultimately redefining perceptions of technology and creativity in a sustainable context.
"Benjamin Gaulon’s Tech Mining workshops fuse e-waste art-making with explorations of obsolescence, creating innovative outcomes through teamwork and interdisciplinary approaches."
"Workshop participants engaged deeply with concepts of repurposing and material extraction, envisioning new genres such as Cyberpunk and Solarpunk in a post-capitalist context."
