A couple dining at San Marino restaurant in Cheshire attempted to scam the establishment by claiming a piece of glass in their food had almost broken the woman's veneers. CCTV footage showed the man discreetly placing a clump of glass on the table, which the woman then used to fabricate her claim. Despite their attempts to refuse payment and seek compensation, the restaurant staff believed the action was a calculated scam, prompting the manager to engage the police amid rising concerns over such fraudulent activities in small businesses.
"It was shocking to see the CCTV footage. They were with their daughter but they're not ashamed. They weren't booked and they just came and said they needed something to eat so we happily showed them a table."
"He hopes the clip, which has more than 115,000 views, will warn businesses about 'false claims' as he believes the pair are 'experienced' scammers who checked the eatery for cameras."
