Amazon requested corporate employees to volunteer in warehouses to assist with grocery deliveries during its Prime Day event. Volunteers were needed for two-hour shifts in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, where they would help pick items, prepare groceries for delivery, and support warehouse morale. Amazon routinely increases its warehouse workforce for Prime Day, which sees a spike in orders. The company is also promoting discounts through its grocery service Amazon Fresh, including trials and savings for Prime subscribers.
An Amazon area manager called for corporate volunteers to help us out with Prime Day to deliver to customers on our biggest days yet.
Corporate employees seconded to the warehouse would be tasked with picking items, preparing carts and bags of groceries for delivery, packing boxes on receiving carts, and working to boost morale.
Amazon Fresh, available to Prime subscribers, is also offering discounts this week during Prime Day, such as a free 90-day trial of the delivery services.
New York is one of Amazon's busiest areas in the US.
