Sky must tell customers about alternative price plans before renewal, court rules

The High Court upheld regulatory authority for ComReg to obtain orders enforcing those notification requirements. Ms Justice Eileen Roberts concluded that Sky Ireland’s practice of automatically renewing customer contracts without providing pre-expiry information and alternative tariff options contravened those obligations. The court ordered the company to cease automatic renewals absent the mandated customer notices. The ruling reinforces consumer information protections and regulators’ power to enforce compliance in the telecommunications sector.
