The lawsuit alleges that the two congressmen violated multiple federal laws and policies by voting to approve military aid to Israel, which amounted to $26.38 billion.
Plaintiff Tarik Sharif Kanaana claimed that by voting for military aid, Mike Thompson made him complicit in the killings of his own people and the destruction of his homeland.
Lead attorney Dean Royer said the lawsuit is presented under the Ninth Amendment, asserting that plaintiffs’ constitutional rights to lawful tax collection have been violated.
The suit argues that the April vote violated both the Leahy Law and the 1987 Genocide Convention Implementation Act, citing concerns over human rights violations.
