Bay Area man back in federal custody after nearly 8 years on the run
Briefly

Eric Pree, a 55-year-old man who escaped from a high-security federal prison nearly eight years ago, has been arrested and charged with escape.
Pree was originally convicted in 2012 for wire fraud and identity theft, leading to an almost eight-year prison sentence before his escape in 2017.
At the time of his arrest in Walnut Creek, Pree possessed multiple cellphones, ID cards, and a fake Harvard University ID, indicating elaborate deception.
Pree now faces a potential additional five-year sentence and a $250,000 fine for his escape, on top of serving his original sentence.
