Suspect arrested in hit-and-run that killed longtime UC Berkeley professor

On Wednesday, a suspect was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run fatality of UC Berkeley professor emeritus Michael Burawoy, who was struck while crossing a street in Oakland. Burawoy, 77, succumbed to injuries at the hospital after the incident. Evidence linked the suspect to the crash, including Burawoy's hearing aid found on the suspect's vehicle. The suspect faces serious charges, including vehicular manslaughter. The Oakland Police Department said the crash is still an ongoing investigation and urged anyone with information to contact the traffic investigations unit at 510-777-8570.
