Blue Door Seafood Taverna, a beloved restaurant in Bay Ridge, will serve its final meal at the end of the month, as announced by owner Kyriaki Vitale on Facebook. Opened in January 2017 with her late father, the eatery has been a cherished part of the community, providing Greek cuisine and fostering deep connections among patrons. Vitale cited personal challenges and the demands of motherhood and business ownership as reasons for closing, a decision that comes with mixed emotions for her and the loyal customers who fondly remember their experiences at the restaurant.
"It has been one of the greatest joys of my life to watch your families grow, celebrate milestones with you, and share in so many meals, laughs and even tears," she wrote. "I've made friendships through Blue Door that I will forever cherish."
"This past year has brought many challenges. As a mother of three young boys and a small business owner, I've found myself pulled in two directions, each requiring my full heart and energy. After much reflection, I've made the incredibly hard decision to close our doors."
