Soul & Smoke, an offshoot of Feast & Imbibe founded by Heather Bublick and D'Andre Carter, has gained momentum over five years in Evanston, with plans to open a flagship restaurant this summer. This development capitalizes on the area's rich smoked meat heritage. The couple, who met at Moto, aimed to create a community space alongside their barbecue endeavors. Their food truck and interviews have expanded their presence, enhancing their reputation and community engagement, while also upholding Evanston's historical significance in reparations.
"When you put your head down and you really try and do what's right, it just seems like the universe has worked out for us, which has been a blessing," Bublick says.
Soul & Smoke represents a blend of barbecue styles, merging Chicago influences with Texas and Memphis traditions, contributing to its unique culinary identity and community significance.
