The Nowruz Market in Oakland celebrates the Persian New Year on March 8, bringing together queer-friendly SWANA communities for an event filled with food, crafts, and fun. This yearly festival not only showcases delicious dishes like haleem and torshi liteh but also serves as a space for political activism. With a sliding scale entry fee and over two dozen vendors, the event aims to support cultural artists and provide an inclusive environment, reinforcing its spirit of resistance against societal forces that seek to divide communities.
For the third year, we are bringing you a Nowruz celebration in resistance to the powers that seek to capture, separate and control us, the organizers write on their website.
It's more important than ever to support artists and culture keepers. We appreciate your support for our artists and chefs, who pull out all the stops every year for this event and pour their love and labor into their work.
