Children from St Jude and St Paul's Church of England Primary School, along with supporters from Highbury Quadrant Primary School, protested outside Islington Town Hall against planned closures by Islington Council due to declining pupil numbers. Holding heart-shaped balloons, placards, and banners, they expressed their love for their schools. Year 2 pupils delivered poignant poems about the importance of their schools to the community while Rev James Hill emphasized the fight for love and community values. Union representatives highlighted the negative educational impact of the closures, calling for the council to reconsider.
I hope someone will listen/And understand our heart/Closing down our school/Will tear our community apart.
Isn't that why we are here? Because we love our school and our school values of togetherness, forgiveness, wisdom, courage, and love.
