Saraswati Vidyalaya, a government school in the flood-prone village of Kelthan, faced severe damage during the 2019 floods. In response, a collaborative effort commenced in 2020 between architects and a local NGO to rebuild the school. The new design incorporates flood-resistant features, including a stilted structure to reduce flood impacts and solar passive strategies. Built with locally sourced materials, the school minimizes construction costs while ensuring sustainability. Emphasizing community involvement, the project not only enhances educational facilities but also supports local social activities through multi-functional spaces.
Rebuilding Resilience began in 2020, as architects and a local NGO engaged teachers and students to design a safer school that withstands flooding.
