In response to a severe heatwave causing daily student collapses in Juba, South Sudan has ordered a two-week closure of schools. Temperatures are expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius, prompting officials, including the Deputy Education Minister, to instruct residents to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities. This closure follows a similar measure taken last year. Critics argue that the government lacks proper planning for the education sector in extreme weather, recommending adjustments to the school calendar to avoid heat-related disruptions.
