Undocumented students at the University of California are expressing concerns over the lack of support and updated statements from the administration amid escalating immigration policies under the Trump administration. Although the UC system had previously outlined principles supporting undocumented individuals, these have not been revised to reflect recent challenges. In response to the perceived silence of the administration, student clubs have mobilized to provide resources and support, emphasizing the universities' role in advocating for this vulnerable community.
"First is for the university to show some kind of sign of solidarity with the undocumented students at the school, because we have not received anything in our emails or really anything about them addressing it," Aguilar said.
"We planned this very, very last minute ... it was just kind of out of necessity. I think that we could really show other schools as well that it's time that we take action."
