Pep Guardiola expressed disappointment that the Premier League has not allowed Manchester City to postpone their early-season fixtures to accommodate player recovery after the Club World Cup.
The Premier League has indicated it cannot honor a request for postponements, stating informal discussions have revealed that the expanded international calendar has created complications out of their jurisdiction.
Guardiola emphasized, 'I think the club asked the league to postpone one or two or three weeks so we can have a holiday after the [Club] World Cup but it is absolutely not allowed.'
Despite Manchester City's participation in the Club World Cup and seeking some leniency regarding scheduling, it seems they will have to adhere to the tightly packed calendar as usual.
