Briefly

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has expressed grave concern over the recent discovery of two mass graves in Libya, following a police raid that rescued many migrants from traffickers. Discovered bodies exhibited signs of violence, including gunshot wounds, exacerbating fears regarding the treatment and exploitation of migrants in the region. IOM officials emphasized the urgent need for dignified recovery and proper identification of these individuals, urging Libyan authorities to assist their families and prioritize human rights for vulnerable populations amid ongoing instability and violence in the nation.
"Last year, authorities unearthed the bodies of at least 65 migrants in the Shuayrif region, south of the capital Tripoli, highlighting the ongoing violence and exploitation faced by migrants in Libya."
"Far too many migrants along these journeys endure severe exploitation, violence and abuse, underscoring the need to prioritize human rights and protect those at risk," said Nicoletta Giordano, the IOM's chief of mission for Libya.
