Met Eireann issues Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for ten counties as sunny spell set to end

Counties including Carlow, Kildare, and Kilkenny are under a thunderstorm warning from 11 am to 8 pm, which could lead to spot flooding and lightning damage. While temperatures will be mild today, with highs of 15 to 20C, the threat of thunderstorms will rise this afternoon extending into evening showers. Tonight’s temperatures are expected to drop to between 4 and 10C, with a drier day expected tomorrow, although southern counties may see isolated showers. The thunderstorm warning will come into force at 11am and last until 8pm today, potentially causing spot flooding and lightning damage in several counties.
Temperatures will range from 15 to 20C today, but scattered thunderstorms could develop by the afternoon, increasing the risk of localized flooding.
Tomorrow will start with mostly dry weather and a chance of temperatures between 18 and 22C, although northern Ulster will remain cooler.
Despite warnings of thunderstorms today from Met Éireann, a dry Thursday is expected, with only light showers and pleasant temperatures across most areas.
