A woman in her 50s was arrested in connection with the disappearance and murder of six-year-old Kyran Durnin and was detained and questioned by gardaí. The child was last seen alive in June 2022 and was officially reported missing in August 2024. She became the third person arrested in connection with the investigation. Gardaí confirmed she has been released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions while investigations remain ongoing. Earlier, two other people known to Kyran were arrested and released without charge. The latest arrest occurred around what would have been Kyran’s tenth birthday.

"On Monday, gardaí detained and questioned the woman over what happened to the six-year-old boy. The child was last seen alive in June 2022 and was officially reported missing in August 2024. She became the third person to be arrested in connection to the probe, but now a Garda spokesperson has confirmed she has been released."
""A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions," they stated. "Investigations are ongoing." Previously, two people - a man and a woman both known to Kyran - have been previously arrested and released without charge."
"Earlier today, it was reported that yesterday's arrest was not for an actual suspect in the physical murder of the boy. Rather, the woman in her 50s had been temporarily detained over her close links to the chief suspect in the case. She has had multiple previous interactions with gardai about his disappearance."
