Omnissa has updated its App Volumes product to enable the delivery of desktop apps not only to virtual PCs but also to physical machines. This expansion is aimed at attracting organizations in regulated industries that prioritize security. With virtual desktops representing only five percent of PCs globally, Omnissa aims for growth by targeting a larger market. The tool packages app files into a virtual hard disk for streamlined installation, aiming to compete with giants like Microsoft's Endpoint Configuration Manager by automating app distribution.
VDI players have therefore created tools to deploy desktop apps to virtual PCs, and to manage them in line with corporate policies.
Omnissa has created tools to automate app distribution and hopes that takes it into competition with the likes of Microsoft's software deployment tool.
