The Screen Actors Guild awards were renamed to the Actor awards to provide clearer recognition of the event's focus. Michael B Jordan won best lead male actor for his performance in the vampire thriller Sinners, beating predicted favorite Timothee Chalamet. He also won the NAACP Image Award for entertainer and actor of the year. Jessie Buckley won best lead female actor for her role in Hamnet, continuing her award season success after wins at the BAFTAs and Golden Globes. The Sinners ensemble cast, including Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku, won the big screen ensemble award. Sean Penn won best supporting male actor for One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan won best supporting female actor.
