Amazon MGM announced its acquisition of creative control over the James Bond franchise, marking the first time in over 60 years that the family Broccoli will not oversee Bond films. Longtime producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will step back, entering a joint venture with Amazon MGM to co-own the franchise's intellectual property. This transition arises after tensions regarding the future direction of Bond projects post-Daniel Craig era and is expected to broaden the franchise's scope beyond films, as expressed by Amazon MGM's leadership.
With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects.
We are grateful to the late Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman for bringing James Bond to movie theaters around the world, and to Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their unyielding dedication.
