Jennifer Lawrence says a 15-minute compromise helps her and her husband make their differences work
""I married somebody who is the opposite of me. He is so organized," Lawrence said during an appearance on Tuesday's episode of the "Smartless" podcast. "He's an anchor. Everything is ordered, like on the sink. Like I have to, you know, like keep the closet doors closed, and I have like my little jobs that I work really hard to do," she said."
"Speaking with Cameron Diaz for Interview magazine in 2021, Lawrence said becoming a mother has made her more selective when it comes to choosing her projects. "There's no squeezing when you have a baby. There's just home, and it's the best. It definitely helps weed out projects: 'Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes. No. Is this worth being away from my child for half the day?'" she said."
Jennifer Lawrence describes marrying Cooke Maroney, who is highly organized and structured. Their children follow a strict schedule, with routines like breakfast at 7:30, which Lawrence finds challenging. Lawrence acknowledges that her husband is good at enforcing schedules, and she allows herself a 15-minute wiggle room to keep their marriage functioning. Lawrence has two sons with Maroney and married him in 2019. Becoming a mother made Lawrence more selective about projects, prioritizing time at home and evaluating whether work is worth being away from her child for part of the day. Lawrence credits her husband with making working motherhood easier.
