Shia LaBeouf accused of homophobic abuse before battery arrest
"Mardi Gras is amazing."
"He kept rushing towards everybody. At one point he rushes up and hits me on the body, knocks me back a little,"
"causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive"
"got his finger in [Damnit's] face"
Shia LaBeouf, 39, was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras and charged with two counts of simple battery after video captured him erratically confronting a man outside a bar. Police were called for a person causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive. Court documents allege the actor attempted to punch a bar manager and later struck Jeffrey Damnit, who had been dressed in drag, on the torso. Damnit says the actor got his finger in his face and hurled homophobic slurs. LaBeouf was released on a signed agreement to appear at future court dates and was later seen on the street saying "Mardi Gras is amazing."
