Atlanta to Get Its First Chai Cafe
Briefly

Chai is a central part of Indian households, and Monica Sunny is opening Atlanta's first dedicated chai cafe in Upper Westside. This cafe will feature her popular chai blends including rose, masala, and kadak varieties as well as seasonal drinks and chai-inspired desserts like chai waffles. Sunny's journey began in 2016 with her tea company, Chai Box, which gained fame after being featured on Oprah's Favorite Things. The cafe aims to recreate the authentic chai experience prevalent in India and offers both a space for community and retail options for customers to take chai home.
"Chai time has always been sacred in our home - an invitation to slow down, and connect," says Sunny, whose chai was one of Oprah's Favorite Things in 2021.
"You can get a chai latte at just about every coffee shop; you can order chai at most Indian restaurants. But there's not a single place here in Atlanta that's fully dedicated to chai, the way there are chai wallas and street-side tea stalls all over India.
Expect Sunny's popular chai blends sourced from India at the cafe, including rose, masala, and kadak varieties, in addition to Indian filter coffee, seasonal drinks, and chai-inspired desserts.
"Opening a chai cafe has always been a dream and part of my vision for the Chai Box," says Sunny. "I wanted to create a space where people could experience chai the way I grew up drinking it."
