On a hot day, fast-food chains offer an alternative to lemonade stands. A taste test conducted at six chains on Long Island assessed their lemonades based on taste, price, and cup size. Wendy's lemonade was rated lowest for being too watery. Panera's lemonade had an unpleasant aftertaste and excessive sweetness. In contrast, Chick-fil-A's lemonade was labeled as a runner-up due to its reasonable price and decent flavor. McDonald's lemonade, revamped in April, was the favorite.
It's sad that many of us do not have the time or means to find our local lemonade stand, prompting fast-food chains to step in with their own offerings.
I visited six chain restaurants on Long Island, New York—McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Sonic, Panera, and Chick-fil-A—to determine which fast-food spot has the best lemonade.
My favorite was McDonald's, which changed its lemonade in April, while my least favorite was Wendy's, which I thought was too watery.
The agave taste in Panera's lemonade was not for me, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste and strong sweetness that I couldn't recommend.
