The Dead Rabbit, an acclaimed pub, is expanding its reach with a new Irish pub and Mexican cantina called San Patricios in Jersey City. This establishment will showcase a blend of Irish and Mexican cultures, inspired by historical ties between the two communities during the mid-1800s and the Mexican-American War. The venue aims to embody Irish hospitality through elements that reflect both cultures, featuring a mix of decor, including altar walls and hand-painted murals, while offering Mexican-Irish-inspired street food.
"At The Dead Rabbit Group, we believe that Irish hospitality is for everyone. San Patricios is our chance to show that spirit through a different lens, one that honors the shared struggles and celebrations of the Irish and Mexican people."
The coming bar plans to blend both cultures under one roof, combining "the raw textures of an Irish pub with the folkloric vibrancy of a Mexican cantina" with altar walls, hand-painted murals and signage that's translated in English, Irish and Spanish.
