August brings back-to-school dread alongside a desire to savor the remaining days of summer while children return from sleepaway camp. A roster of restaurants and outdoor spots offers chances to catch blazing sunsets with towers of shellfish, sip slushy daiquiris, play dice, dine on open-hearth campfire cooking, and linger on outdoor pizza patios lit by fireflies. The Chelsea Yacht Club provides a 20,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor destination on the Hudson with a Lido Deck for cocktails, breezy cabanas with coolers, and a dining room that evokes a luxury schooner.
