Despite winter, France's National Aerobiological Surveillance Network announced high pollen counts, with 30 departments at 'red' warning for allergies due to cupressaceae pollen. The alert increased significantly from 10 departments a few days prior. Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautions due to the presence of blooming hazelnuts and alders. A spike in pollen levels is expected with the upcoming warm, sunny, and windy weather, prompting health warnings for those with pollen allergies.
The risk of allergies are elevated from the south-west to south-east due to an increased presence of cupressaceae pollens, including cypress and juniper.
Hazelnuts and alders are also in full bloom throughout the country, with a medium risk level for allergy, expected to rise in the coming days.
