"Citizens with the police, stop insecurity, stop impunity"
"The national police can no longer do their job under normal conditions,"
"a clear lack of resources, a lack of personnel and a lack of material resources"
Thousands of people, including far-right politicians, rallied in around 20 French cities in visible support of the national police. Organisers reported 15,000 to 20,000 participants in Paris, with demonstrators marching behind a banner reading "Citizens with the police, stop insecurity, stop impunity." Protesters carried placards saying "All cops are heroes" and "impunity breeds criminals," and some launched smoke bombs and blew whistles. Police union leaders warned that the national police can no longer operate under normal conditions and called attention to a very serious situation. Union representatives cited increasingly violent crime and a clear lack of resources, personnel, and material equipment. Several hundred officers also marched in Nice led by right and far-right politicians.
