The 5,000 device that tech billionaires Zuckerberg and Musk swear by
Briefly

Billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg use high-tech mattresses to optimise their sleep. Eight Sleep's Pod includes a sensor-packed mattress cover, a large hub and an adjustable base. The system constantly monitors body temperature and position and provides heating or cooling through an in-built water pump. The mattress tracks sleeping habits, automatically learns how to improve sleep and can wake users with thermal and vibrating alarms. Eight Sleep claims 25 per cent more deep sleep and snoring mitigation that produces a 45 per cent reduction in snoring and 23 per cent fewer night awakenings. The top model costs at least £5,137, requires a yearly Autopilot subscription costing £199 for the basic plan, and an optional £850 climate-controlled blanket is available.
Eight Sleep, the startup behind these pricey smart beds, claims its mattresses can give you 25 per cent more deep sleep and even cure your snoring. The company's Pod product consists of a sensor-packed mattress cover which connects to a large 'hub' and an adjustable base. This system constantly monitors the sleeper's body temperature and position, providing heating or cooling through an in-built water pump.
First-time customers are also required to purchase a yearly subscription to Eight Sleep's Autopilot app. This is what allows the mattress to automatically monitor temperatures and adjust the flow of heating to either side of the bed so you and your partner both sleep easy. The Autopilot app even boasts 'snore detection and mitigation' software, which uses the base to raise or lower someone's sleeping position until they stop snoring.
