Following a series of far-right threatening emails, several secondary schools in Duisburg were closed to ensure safety. Authorities identified a 15-year-old from Berlin as the main suspect, with three additional teens from Duisburg under investigation. These threats, which caused the closure of 20 high schools affecting nearly 18,000 students, could be linked to a motive to disrupt exams. Amid ongoing investigations, police acknowledged the complexity of the case and praised their rapid response.
"Investigations into the extent to which the suspects are connected to the other threatening letters are ongoing," the statement said, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Herbert Reul, the Interior Minister, praised the police's response, stating, "The police have pulled out all the stops in no time at all and used all the technical means at their disposal."
